Committee Reports

Pujari

A constant search for Gujarati priest is going on. Several community members have come forward to provide us the lead for an appropriate Gujarati Priest. So far since the July of last year we have been able to Interview or speak to almost nine different priests. We have found ourselves unfortunate but our efforts are continued. Long Range Planning Committee (LRPC)

Since April of this year, the Boards have decided to move forward with the Vedanta Hall renovation as well the approved projects of Gandhi Plaza and Sports facility. The new architect has been hired. Ramirez Architects have completed the schematics and is working with civil, structural and the City Bldg. Standard Dept. Recently LRPC and Joint Board went over the Schematics with Havan Group and unanimously approved the Havan Shala Concept adjacent to Vedanta Hall on the Vihar Hall side.Once all the code related issues are resolved and after the approval of Jt. Boards, LRPC will ptresent the plans to the community. If you have any suggestion or would like to extend a helpinh hand please contact Comm. Chairperson - Suresh Vyas at administartor@hcclt.org

Recognition Committee


This Year The Chairman of Board Mr. Ball Gupta has appointed the Recognition committe to have one single policy to recognise various levels of Donors and members as well Volunteers. Under the able leadership of Dhrubhai Patel and Dr. Baldeo Chopra as well other mebers, this committee is working very deligently to provide a comprehensive policy to deal with all the issues of recognition. Those who donate more than $151 in a month are being sent the special Prasad prepared at the Hindu Center by volunteers and blessed by the Gods. Constitution Committee

The Chairman of the Constitution, Policy and Procedure, Mr. Ravi Patel has held the two meetings. At the insistence of the Board , this committtee is looking at restructuring the Trustee Board so that we have the continuity in managing the affairs of our Temple. Hindu Center constitution was written almost 29 years ago and needs a look to assimilate the new challenges of the growing community and implement as well resolve several operational difficulties learnt over the years. If you have any input on restructuring of the Trstee Board e.g. permanent Trustees as well any other idea related to making our Center being able to meet new challenges, please contact Comm. Hindu Center Sports

The Hindu Center now has sports activities every Thursday from 6:00pm to 8:30pm in the Vihar Hall.  The Indoor sports offered include: Badminton , Table Tennis , Carom , and Chess.  Outdoor basketball is also available for those interested.

Educational programs

  • CROP 
    The Hindu Center's Childrens Religious Outreach Program educates children between the grades of K thru 10 about the Hindu religion. It meets twice a month on Sundays in the Gandhi Bhavan basement.   • Sloka Class
    Sloka Class at the Hindu Center teaches children between the ages of 4 and 13 different Hindu Hymns, their meaning and significance. It meets every Sunday from 9.30 AM to 10.30 AM in the Gandhi Bhavan basement .   • Youth
    There is a Youth Group being organised to bring together teenagers to get involved in Cultural and Social activities in the community. It meets on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of every month. For more info. please call the Hindu Center.
  • Yoga
    Yoga classes are held every Sunday at 9.00 AM. Please contact Mr. Pradeep Bulsara ( for Sundays) at 704-864-8212 to join up or for more details.
  • Music Appreciation Course
    There will be a music appreciation course offered at the Hindu Center started in April 2005. It is conducted by Smt. Sarla Kumar. Those of you, who are in the music circle in Charlotte already know of her expertise. She had her music training under well known musicians like Senior Dagar Brothers, Ustad Mushtaq Hussain Khan, N.S. Khaliker of Pune and Manik Varma. Mrs. Kumar hopes to teach about the components of classical music for better understanding and enjoyment. The participants will learn about laya, tala, swaras, ragas, and their characteristics, forms and style of music and meaning of terms used in classical music. Mrs. Kumar will demonstrate and explain by singing or playing music by famous artists.The classes will be held on every second Sunday of the month at the Gandhi Bhavan from 2.30PM to 4:30 PM.
